EDC Winter BEAR Breakfast

Thank you to all who attended the EDC Winter BEAR Breakfast yesterday morning. It was a great turnout, and the speakers were phenomenal! Check out the article on the BEAR Breakfast from the Business Journal here.

A special thank you goes to Fresno State who provided the location for this valuable event.

Did you know that Fresno State returns $5.43 to the regional economy for every dollar invested by the state? Also, Fresno State's Gibson Farm Market posts $1.3 million in annual sales of sweet corn, wine, nuts, olive oil and other goods produced or processed by students!

A Conversation With Fresno About Education

In response to the enthusiasm and commitment of StudentsFirst members across California, StudentsFirst and the California Mayors Education Roundtable are co-hosting town-hall style meetings in five cities across the state to hear more about ideas on how best to reform California's schools.  These locally organized events kicked-off in San Diego last month and will make its the third stop in Fresno.

We are pleased to invite you to this meeting, where Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, members of the California Mayors Education Roundtable, will join Michelle Rhee, founder and CEO of StudentsFirst, along with community education advocacy groups, local business leaders and local civil rights organizations, as the Fresno community convenes to listen and engage in an honest dialogue about the state of public education in California today.

We truly hope you can come! Space is extremely limited and only those who RSVP will be able to attend.
