Our Chairman's Message
Fresno and the surrounding great communities in Fresno County are truly an amazing place to live and work. Fresno County is in the heart of California and has many great assets, but none more important than the people themselves. We are rich in culture and diversity and I challenge each and every one of you to help bring Fresno to a place of great success.
We have experienced 150 years of growth and opportunity and last year was no exception. We have seen many new challenges and opportunities for our businesses, schools, and governmental agencies.
Our key to success lies in the combined efforts of all the many collaborative efforts by the cities, county, universities, businesses, chamber of commerce, Workforce Investment Board, Regional Jobs Initiative, and the numerous other excellent organizations. The Economic Development Corporation is grateful to be a part of this outstanding community partnership that is interested in communicating our unique story to the rest of the world. By working together….and only by working together will we continue on a successful journey.
Looking to the future, our focus for 2007 is comprised of a four part strategy:
- Image – Our success story
- Infrastructure – Water/Sewer/Utilities/Roads
- Inventory – Available sites
- Investment – For both the Marketplace and the EDC
Being a transplant to Fresno myself, I believe that the 150 year special publication of the Fresno Bee says it the best with astonishing accuracy:
They put down roots in the fertile soil,
Immigrants and transplants,
Staking claim to the mountains and broad vistas as their own.
But the place took hold of them instead.
This is our land and our legacy.
I am looking forward to the EDC Chairmanship for the upcoming year knowing that working together we can accomplish anything.
