Steve Geil to Remain at EDC Helm
This morning the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation serving Fresno County agreed unanimously to rescind EDC President/CEO Steve Geil’s resignation. At the Board’s last meeting on April 9, 2010, Geil had resigned effective June 30, 2010 in order to have the time to pursue a couple of development projects. During the time between Board meetings, Geil had numerous discussions with Board members, government officials, and community leaders who encouraged him to stay on as CEO. After consideration, Geil requested that the Board consider having his resignation rescinded.
As a result, Geil has agreed to lead the EDC for at least the next two years and postpone the development projects for that time as well. He wants to continue working with others to bring the high-speed train maintenance facility to Fresno, complete the asset mapping of Fresno County, work with Fresno State to build national recognition for the Logistics and Marketing program, and complete a number of current EDC projects.
When asked why he’s staying, he responded, “I realized how much I love Fresno County and the cities within its borders – and how much I want to finish up some major projects that we’re currently working on with others in the region. I love the challenges that the projects bring and the people I have the pleasure of working with.”
The Board looks forward to moving ahead with Steve Geil continuing as the President/CEO of the Economic Development Corporation serving Fresno County.
Kurt Madden,
Chairman of the Board
